MDO MONTHLY SPEAKER NIGHT
Speaker Night features a speaker or panel, a Q&A session and refreshments.
It is free and open to the public ... people with mood disorders, their loved ones and the interested public.
 
No registration required.
When:   3rd Tuesday of each month;  September through May (excluding Jan-Feb); 7:30p-9p, followed by light refreshment.
Where:  Southminster Church (15 Alymer Ave/near the Rideau Canal and Bank St.), 3rd floor, enter at the rear of the building.  Limited free parking is available at the rear of the building and additional parking on side streets.

Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, utilize emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and manage and/or adjust emotions to adapt to environments or achieve one's goal(s) and to handle relationships thoughtfully and em- pathetically.

This talk will cover:  The concept of emotional intelligence; How the brain processes emotions differently than thoughts; Why emotions are so important and deserve more attention and respect;How improving your emotional intelligence can make your life better; Some tips for using your emotions more effectively to have a more satisfying and healthy life.

DISCOVERY 2000 EVENTS
SUBSIDIZED RECREATION PROGRAM
This year-round program provides 2-3 low-cost recreational events each month for our members with mood disorders.  Discovery outings can include movies, museums,  mini-golf, bowling, day trips and restaurant outings.  All members are welcome to participate, however only members with mood disorders are subsidized.  Please bring your membership card or complete a membership application and fee payment at the event.  Call the MDO Info-line or email (above) to request a membership form and calendar of events.  See newsletter for current Discovery events.

On-Going Discovery 2000 events:

  • MOVIE NIGHT

    Get a $15.00 movie card for $3.00 (registered/paid MDO members only).  For use at any Cineplex theatre for admission/concession items.  Cards do not expire.  Movie Night card distribution is held monthly, however MDO members are limited to one pass every 2 months, so 6 movie passes per year.  If you miss a movie night distribution, we don’t allow you to make up for the missed movie card. No sign-up ... 1st Come/1st Served ... limit of 30 cards per month.

    When:   6:00-6:45p, on the 1st Tuesday of every month, dates noted in Newsletter

    Where:  World Exchange Plaza 2nd Floor, between Subway and Booster Juice


  • GAMES / TRIVIA NIGHT - Wednesday, 12Dec   Flyer
    Join MDO for an evening of games, community and laughter.  We will make teams to play various forms of Trivia, Pictionary, and a mystery game.  Its a hoot and there are small, tasty treats and light refreshments ... oh, and don't forget, LAUGHS!

To embark in this enjoyable collage practice, you do not need to be an artist or have any other special skills.  All you need is your imagination and a curiosity to explore your multi-faceted soul.  Bring yourself and a notebook or journal.
