Grab your walking shoes and come celebrate the last day of summer by joining MDO’s inspiring 1st annual WALK-A-THON!

Why Participate?

​

  • Support a Vital Cause -  By becoming involved you’ll help MDO provide essential resources and programs that support individuals living with mental illness

  • Community Connection - Walk alongside friends, family and community members who share your passion for mental health advocacy

  • Fun For Everyone - Embrace the opportunity to be active in nature and enjoy scenic views while cheering on your peers

  • Be the Change - Every step you take assists in breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and your participation through walking, collecting sponsors or donating sends a strong message that mental health matters!

GOAL: Raise $5000 towards MDO’s services including helping to provide:

  • Additional evidence based recovery programs

  • A virtual platform for peer support groups

  • Fun seasonal activities that foster connections​  

​

All positively affecting mental wellbeing!

​

EVENT: Participants will meet under the gazebo at Andrew Haydon Park before the challenge of walking along the 1km pathway that loops around the ponds.  Everyone can set their own pace and distance with the aim of being active and supportive of one another.  Once your walk is complete, return to the gazebo for a well deserved rest in the shade and huge congratulations from your peers! Please bring your own snacks however bottled water will be provided.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

   1) Be a WALKER!

​

Let MDO know you will join in the fundraising fun by registering as a walker. Each participant must read and sign the 2025 MDO Walk-A-Thon waiver.  This can be done by filling out the “I acknowledge” section of the registration form. See waiver and registration links below:

If you would like to ask friends, family or peers to sponsor your walk, please visit MDO’s Walk-A-Thon fundraiser page at

and click the button “Join as an Individual”.

​

Or you can "Create a Team" and have your contacts actively participate!

Either option will allow you to have your very own fundraising page and link to share with people who wish to support you using credit card or PayPal transactions! Fill in your personal details like a catchy name and description of why this fundraiser is important to you.

Alternatively, you can collect sponsors that provide cash, etransfer or cheque to Mood Disorders Ottawa by using a PLEDGE FORM that can be downloaded or printed using the link below.

All forms and donations using this method must be received by MDO before or on the day of this event.
